Financial Concerns for Seniors

Rarely a week goes by that we don't speak with someone who has some financial concerns. Those concerns can be related to Medicare, Medicaid planning, Wills, Living Wills/Advanced Directives, Power of Attorney documents, and more!

Many people can find the resources they need through their county Area Agency on Aging or other community resources to address their financial concerns.  Sometimes a situation requires a more thorough look, though.

Our colleague, Susan Piette, is an eldercare lawyer in Lansdale.  Susan provides valuable information to the community throughout the year.  Likewise, she can provide legal services in those more complicated situations. Click Here for a short 2 minute video by Susan on two common financial concerns:  will they take my home if I enter a nursing facility?; and what happens to my belongings if I pass away without a will?

If you haven't updated your Power of Attorney since 2015, it might be time to take a look.  As we discussed in a previous post, the Pennsylvania Power of Attorney laws changed in 2015.  Your pre-existing Power of Attorney document will be honored, but it's always wise to review these documents every year or two to make sure they still reflect your wishes.
